Abstract  Abstract

A method implemented in a wireless communication system is disclosed that includes a wireless transmission / reception unit (WTRU), a Node B and a radio network controller (RNC) to quantify multiplexed data allowed by assignments in order to establish a Proximate correspondence with a selected uplink transport format combination block size (E-TFC) selected. The amount of programmed and unscheduled data that can be transmitted is quantified so that the amount of multiplexed data in an enhanced uplink media (EU) (MAC-e) access control protocol data unit (PDU). correspond more closely to the selected E-TFC transport block size. In one embodiment, the amount of buffered data that can be multiplexed by at least one concession, (a concession in service and / or a concession not in service), is quantified so that the sum of the programmed and unscheduled data , including a MAC header and multiplexed control information in a MAC-e PDU corresponds more closely to the selected E-TEC transport block size.
