Abstract  Abstract

, method for forming speech recognition parameters. a speech sample characterization front end suitable for use in a distributed speech recognition context. A digitized voice sample (31) is subdivided between a low frequency path (32) and a high frequency path (33). Both pathways are used to determine the spectral content suitable for use when determining speech recognition parameters (such as spectral coefficients) that characterize the speech sample for recognition purposes. the low frequency track (32) has a complete noise reduction capability. In one version, the results of this noise reduction are used by the high frequency pathway (33) to assist in noise removal without requiring the same level of resource capacity as the low frequency pathway (32).
