Abstract  Abstract

A system and method for a cellular time division duplex (time division duplex (TDD) in millimetre wave system transmit sounding reference signal (sounding reference signal (SRS). The transmission point (transmission point (TP) can transmit a beam formed reference signal to the user equipment (user equipment UE for short) wherein each beam forming reference signal is the beam direction according to beam directions available to the TP set in transmission. TP can receive feedback information from the UE an identifier transmission of the feedback message to UE of the beamforming in the reference signal. TP may be selected for SRS received from beam direction set available to the TP according to feedback information received from UE subset of beam direction and receiving uplink SRS signal according to the beam direction in the beam direction in the subset. TP available beam set comprises at least one beam direction removed from the subset of beam direction.

A system and method of communicating sounding reference signals (SRSs) in a cellular time division duplex (TDD) mmWave system. A transmission point (TP) may transmit beamformed reference signals to a user equipment (UE) each of the beamformed reference signals having been transmitted according to a beam direction in a set of beam directions available to the TP. The TP may receive a feedback message from the UE that identifies one of the beamformed reference signals transmitted to the UE. The TP may select from the set of beam directions available to the TP a subset of beam directions for SRS reception based on the feedback message received from the UE and receive uplink SRS signals according to beam directions in the subset of beam directions. The set of beam directions available to the TP includes at least one beam direction that is excluded from the subset of beam directions.
