Abstract  Abstract

The method involves providing a deactivation signal if data streams contain no useful data storing exchange side transmission coefficients transmitting the deactivation signal from the exchange side device to the user side device storing user side coefficients returning the signal to the exchange side device stopping transmission to the exchange side detecting this stopping transmission to the user side and deactivating the devices. The method involves providing a deactivation signal if data streams to be transmitted in both directions contain no useful data storing exchange side transmission coefficients transmitting the deactivation signal from the exchange side device (LTU) to the user side device (NTU) storing user side transmission coefficients returning the signal to the exchange side device stopping transmission to the exchange side detecting this stopping transmission to the user side and deactivating the devices. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: an arrangement for transmitting data streams.
