Abstract  Abstract

A method (700) for use in a cellular system (100) comprising the step of transmitting a predefined message (705) comprising a primary warning notification (710) and verification information (715) related to the primary warning notification to user terminals in one or more cells of the system. The predefined message is transmitted simultaneously to a plurality of user terminals (740) in the system (100) on a physical channel (745) in the system which is dedicated to messages to single users. Suitably the physical channel used is a paging channel (750) in the system (100) and also suitably the predefined message causes the user terminals to listen (720) for a secondary warning notification in subsequent messages on the same channel.
