Abstract  Abstract

Method for transmitting back to a first unit bitmaps of acknowledgment / non-acknowledgment, ACK / NACK, generated by a second unit (BTS, MS) in the context of automatic repeat request signaling, ARQ, within A mobile radio system, in which transmissions planned for a temporary block flow, called TBF, uses at least one carrier which is accessed in time division during time slots of sequential frames for transporting radio blocks radio link control / media access control, RLC / MAC, each consisting of a header and a part of payload data distributed in a set of assigned time slots interspersed between a predetermined number of frames, in the that the ACK / NACK bitmap includes as many bits as RLC / MAC blocks received in a time window that covers one or more predetermined block periods before an initial instant known by the pr imera and the second unit, indicating the logical value of each bit RLC / MAC blocks decoded with error or correctly, thus allowing retransmission by the first unit of the mapped blocks as incorrectly decoded by the second unit, said ACK bitmap being encoded / NACK by the second unit regardless of the redundancy code of the payload data part, using a modulation and coding scheme for the ACK / NACK bitmap more robust against errors than the robustness of the modulation and coding scheme used in the payload data part, characterized in that said ACK / NACK bitmap is assigned to a third part (B / M) of said RLC / MAC block transmitted in the downlink by a second unit configured as a base station (BTS ) towards a plurality of first units configured as mobile stations (MS), said third part (B / M) being encoded independently with respect to both the header as the part of the payload data of said RLC / MAC block and being accessed by all mobile stations (MS) assigned in the same time slots.
