Abstract  Abstract

A method of numbering radio frequency channels for use in a wireless communication system, the available frequency spectrum associated with the wireless communication system is divided into frequency bands, each frequency band comprising a plurality of frequencies , the method comprises the steps of: - assigning (101) a global number to a main frequency of a first band, where the global number is unique among at least the first frequency band and the global number is indicative of at least a second frequency band associated with the first frequency band, - assigning (102) an in-band number to a secondary frequency within at least the second frequency band, and - composing the signaling of the global number and the in-band number.
