Abstract  Abstract

A method and a wireless transmit receive unit, WTRU, for performing measurements for cell reselection are disclosed. Priority information is received via a system information broadcast, wherein the priority information is indicative of cell reselection priority information for an inter-radio access technology, RAT, cell associated with a candidate RAT. A relative priority is determined of the inter-RAT cell associated with the candidate RAT with respect to a current cell associated with a current RAT based on the priority information. Furthemore, cell reselection measurements are performed on the inter-RAT cell in the candidate RAT, wherein the cell reselection measurements are performed based on at least one of the inter-RAT cell associated with the candidate RAT having a higher relative priority than the current cell associated with the current RAT, or a quality of the current cell being less than or equal to a predetermined threshold if the inter-RAT cell associated with the candidate RAT does not a have a higher relative priority than the current cell associated with the current RAT.
