Abstract  Abstract

An uplink resource assignment for transmitting an uplink synchronization signal is transmitted to the user equipment. The user equipment transmits an uplink synchronization signal on the uplink resource. From the uplink synchronization signal, the timing advance of the user equipment is determined. In order to indicate to the user equipment that the uplink resource allocation is intended to transmit a synchronization signal of the user equipment, the user equipment timing advance timer expires, in the allocation table to which the uplink resources are assigned. Various indications are used, such as an explicit field transmission or explicit signaling from the network. Methods, devices and computer programs are detailed for both network and user equipment embodiments. (Selection) Figure 4
