Abstract  Abstract

For each target cell determined by the handover determination process, a first message is transmitted from the source base station to the target base station serving the target cell. The first message includes an identifier of a wireless device having a communication link with the source base station and information for acquiring authentication data. The authentication data depends on the secret key available at the wireless device and the source base station and the identity of the target cell. In response to a communication link failure, a cell is selected by the wireless device, and a reconfiguration request message including an identifier of the selected cell and authentication data depending on the secret key and identity is transmitted. If the selected cell is a target cell served by the target base station that has received the first message, the authentication data included in the reconfiguration request message to allow the communication link to be moved to the selected cell; A match with the authentication data obtained from the first message is verified.
