Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for uplink communications from a wireless terminal to a network over a wireless interface.

SOLUTION: An uplink transmission scheduling request (SR) can be prohibited for a lower priority data flow and a logical channel group but may be triggered for higher priority traffic. Efficient scheduling is achieved by allowing an uplink transmission scheduler to distinguish between different priority flows or groups without a buffer status report (BSR). As a result when a semi-persistent resource is scheduled for the lower priority data there is less delay for higher priority data while eliminating uplink and downlink control signals i.e. fewer scheduling requests (SRs) and uplink grants for the lower priority data.
