Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transmit diversity for acknowledgement and category 0 bits in a wireless communication system.

SOLUTION: A method of transmitting acknowledgement/nonacknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signals includes: multiplexing an ACK/NACK signal; and repeatedly transmitting the multiplexed signal for predetermined times where in each of the repetitions of transmission the multiplexed signal is spread in a frequency domain and mapped to a plurality of discrete resource units each having a pair of neighboring subcarriers and a predetermined number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) control symbols.
