Abstract
A method and apparatus are provided for performing an initial access procedure in a wireless communication system. The present invention relates to wireless communication, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for performing an initial access procedure in a wireless communication system composed of a single carrier or multiple carriers exceeding multiple frequencies. The wireless device detects a DTX cell operating in a DTX state by receiving a discovery signal from a DTX (discontinuous transmission) cell and requests an initial DTX cell to be transferred from the DTX state to the TX (continuous transmission) state.
