Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a pre-defined time period influences performance because in a timer-based RA failure detection mechanism recovery from a RA failure has to wait for the pre-defined time period that needs to be long enough to process RA request receptions and responses even if considering the worst case such as the heaviest traffic load.

SOLUTION: A base station (BS) may be configured to assist detection of a random access (RA) request failure and can include: an antenna configured to receive an RA request; a processor configured to decode the RA request; and a transmitter configured to transmit an aggregate RA response message comprising one or more RA responses that respond to one or more received and decoded RA requests.
