Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To seek the benefit of notifying a DRX cycle length for an active mode because when staying long on the same cell a better cell is periodically searched for in accordance with a set of standards; any better cell that is found is selected; in an LTE system having only two states LTE_Idle and LTE_active WTRU can execute cell reselection only in the LTE_Idle state; WTRU uses parameters broadcasted from the system; and DRX is present not only in the idle mode but also in the active mode.

SOLUTION: A radio transceiver unit is so configured as to receive system level information including DRX (intermittent reception) information cell selection information and RACH information. The system level information is allocated to system information blocks or received as defined parameters notified via exclusive RRC signaling.
