Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent illegal copy. SOLUTION: Data enciphered by a 1394 interface 26 of DVD player 1 are transferred to a personal computer 2 and a magneto-optical disk device 3 via 1394 bus 11. In a case of the magneto-optical disk device 3 of which the change in function is not disclosed to user, the received data are decoded by 1394 interface 36. In contrast to this, in a case of the personal computer 2 of which the change in function is disclosed to user, the enciphered data are decoded by using a time-variable key-i by 1394 interface 49, and the result of the decoding is further decoded by using a session key S at an application part 61.
