Abstract  Abstract

The present invention discloses a method of processing a PDP Context Request. The method comprises the steps of: 1) at a GPRS Support Node (GSN) receiving a PDP context creation request message, storing definitions for Cause values of all versions and all Cause values; 2) After receiving the PDP context creation request message, the GSN checks the version number, performs internal processing, and generates a PDP context response according to the processing result and the version number of the PDP context creation request (Create Packet Data Protocol). Setting a Cause value of the same version in a Context Response) message; 3) encapsulating the PDP context creation response and returning to the sender of the PDP context creation request. The processing method of the present invention can avoid possible incompatibility on actual applications, can be widely applied, and can prevent protocol resources from being wasted. This method also helps localize and solve the problems faced by real applications and provides excellent compatibility since no changes to existing versions are required.
