Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for increasing a handover success rate of a terminal in a connected state performing a discontinuous reception operation in order to minimize power consumption in a mobile communication system. The present invention relates to a method of performing a handover by a terminal operating in a discontinuous reception mode in a mobile communication system, wherein the terminal performs a cell change report to a serving base station, and then transitions from the discontinuous reception mode to a transmission / reception mode. Receiving a handover command message from the serving base station and completing a handover to a target cell; and a condition of resuming discontinuous reception mode operation included in the handover command message needs to update additional information after completion of the handover.
