Abstract  Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein that facilitate interference measurement and reporting in a network multiple-input-multi-output (N-MIMO) communication system. As presented herein, a network device can measure and report interference corresponding to network nodes that are outside of a specified set of nodes that can cooperatively serve the device. Each interference report may additionally identify prevailing interfering nodes, correlations between transmit antennas of each node, and the like. Subsequently, each interference report can be combined with per-node channel information to manage coordination and scheduling through respective network nodes. As further presented herein, interference from a network node may be measured by observing reference and / or synchronization signals from the network node. To assist such an observation, each non-interfering network nodes may define null pilot intervals at which transmission stops or is reduced. As further presented herein, the load information broadcast by each interfering network nodes may be identified and used in conjunction with the interference calculation.
