Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for serving a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel (HS-DSCH) cell change is disclosed. The WTRU sends a measurement report to the radio network controller (RNC) when the signal strength of the target cell approaches the signal strength of the source cell. The RNC adds the target cell in the active set and sends the preloaded HS-DSCH configuration information for the target cell to the WTRU. When the signal strength of the target cell exceeds the signal strength of the source cell, the WTRU sends another measurement report. The WTRU monitors the Fast Shared Control Channel (HS-SCCH) on the target cell based on the preloaded HS-DSCH configuration information and decodes the HS-SCCH transmission. The WTRU determines whether a MAC-hs / ehs reset is needed and resets the MAC-hs / ehs entity before receiving a HS-DSCH transmission from the target cell if a MAC-hs / ehs reset is needed.
