Abstract
PURPOSE: An RAU(Radio Area Update) optimization in standby state is provided to perform the optimization of routing area updates during inter-system handover between GSM/GPRS and UMTS in standby state for packet data wireless networks. CONSTITUTION: The packet data wireless network includes a divided 2G/3G SGSN(400). The 2G/3G SGSN(400) further comprises a 2G function part(406) and a 3G function part(404). The routing area is a common routing area(RA3) including 2G radio access area and 3G radio access area. An RNC(Radio Network Controller) of UTRAN holds to rink to a mobile terminal of routing area, and 3G SGSN holds to the UTRAN(206) via interface connector(220).
