Abstract  Abstract

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for transmitting a downlink reference signal in a wireless communication system for supporting a multi-antenna are provided to optimize a channel estimating function based on a channel state information-reference signal(CSI-RS). CONSTITUTION: A CSI-RS with respect to 8 or less antenna ports is mapped in the data region of a downlink sub-frame according to a pre-set pattern. The data region of the downlink sub-frame includes an expanded cyclic prefix configuration. The downlink sub-frame is transmitted. The pre-set pattern defines the CSI-RS with respect to the antenna ports which are mapped on two orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) symbols. The OFDM symbols are located on the data region of the sub-frame.
