Abstract
Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a broadcast channel in a cellular communications system. The transmitting method according to the present invention comprises the steps of: repeating symbols including information on a broadcast channel according to a preset repeat count; code-covering the repeated symbols according to a code selected from a predetermined code set; mapping the code-covered symbols to sub-carriers; and transmitting the symbols, mapped to the sub-carriers, from plural positions set in one frame by using different beams, wherein the code is selected from the code set according to a predetermined rule based on the repeat count, a cell identifier and a sweep index and a sweep index which indicates the transmission order of the broadcast channel within the frame.
