Abstract  Abstract

A data communication receiver (106) is described that is assigned to receive message signals, within one or more frames or message transmission information units (FIGURE 3) transmitted in a predetermined sequence. Message signals include address (1604) and message (1608) information, and information (1710) designating one or more additional message transmission frames, to which the data communication receiver (106) it is responsive to receiving message signals. The data communication receiver (106) includes a receiver (804) to receive the message signals, a decoder (830, 816), coupled to the receiver (804), to decode the address information (1604) and Designation (1608), received during assigned transmission frames, and a memory (850), for storing the received message information, which is proposed for data communication receiver (106) during assigned transmission blocks. The decoder (830, 816) is further responsive to the designation information (1608), to decode the address information (1604) received during one or more additional transmission frames, designated by the designation information (1608), and memory 850 further stores the received message information, which is proposed to the data communication receiver during one or more additional transmission frames. A screen (842) is used to display or show the stored message information.
