Abstract  Abstract

FIELD: radio engineering communication.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication systems particularly for transmitting data using a fixed-length or variable-length data size. A mobile data transmission system includes a control device and a base station device. Data communication between the control device and the base station device is conducted using a fixed-length data size and a variable-length data size wherein the method comprises transmitting a RADIO LINK SETUP REQUEST message which initiates setup of a radio link said message including radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) size format information to the base station; if the RADIO LINK SETUP REQUEST message does not include Maximum MAC-d PDU Size Extended information and the RLC PDU size format information has a value indicating that the RLC PDU size is variable the procedure is terminated.EFFECT: improved data flow management.24 cl 13 dwg
