Abstract  Abstract

In an aspect a method and apparatus for performing random access in a wireless communication system is provided. A user equipment (UE) receives a first set of random access channel (RACH) resources for a short transmission time interval (TTI) and a second set of RACH resources for a normal TTI from an eNodeB (eNB) and performs random access towards the eNB by using the first set of RACH resources for the short TTI. In another aspect a method and apparatus for performing contention based uplink (UL) transmission in a wireless communication system is provided. A UE receives resources for contention based UL (CB-UL) transmission and performs the CB-UL transmission by using the resources for the CB-UL transmission.
