Abstract
A WTRU may include a memory and a processor. The processor may be configured to receive beam grouping information from a gNB or transmission and reception point (TRP). The beam grouping information may indicate a group of beams that the WTRU may report using group-based reporting. The group-based reporting may be a reduced level of reporting compared to a beam-based reporting. The group-based report may include measurement information for a representative beam. The representative beam may be one of the beams in the group or represents an average of the beams in the group. Alternatively, the representative beam may be a beam that has a maximum measurement value compared to other beams in the group. The group-based report may include a reference signal received power (RSRP) for the representative beam and a differential RSRP for each additional beamin the beam group.

Claim
A WTRU comprising:
a memory; and a processor configured to:
receive beam grouping information from a transmission and reception point (TRP), wherein the beam grouping information indicates a group associated with group-based reporting that uses a first cycle, and wherein the group-based reporting is associated with a reduced level of reporting compared to a level of reporting associated with beam-based reporting that uses a second cycle;
send, to the TRP, a group-based report in accordance with the first cycle, wherein the group-based report comprises measurement information associated with a representative beam, and wherein the representative beam is one of a plurality of beams in the group or a beam that represents an average associated with the plurality of beams in the group;
send, to the TRP, a beam-based report in accordance with the second cycle, wherein the beam-based report comprises measurement information for individual beams; and
receive updated beam grouping information from the TRP.
2. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the first cycle is a short cycle and the second cycle is a long cycle.
3. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the group-based report comprises less information about individual beams than the beam-based report.
4. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to send the group-based report more often than the beam-based report.
5. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the plurality of beams in the group comprises a first beam and a second beam, the first beam being the representative beam, and wherein the group-based report comprises a reference signal received power (RSRP) for the representative beam and a differential RSRP for the second beam.
6. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein when the representative beam is the one of the plurality of beams in the group, the representative beam is a beam that has a maximum measurement value compared to other beams in the group.
7. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to cause the WTRU to take measurements of individual beams.
8. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the group-based report is sent via uplink (UL) signaling periodically or aperiodically, and wherein when the group-based report is sent periodically it is sent using NR-physical control uplink channel (PUCCH), and wherein when the group-based report is sent aperiodically it is sent using NR-physical uplink shared data channel (PUCCH).
9. A method comprising:
receiving beam grouping information from a transmission and reception point (TRP), wherein the beam grouping information indicates a group associated with group-based reporting that uses a first cycle, and wherein the group-based reporting is associated with a reduced level of reporting compared to a level of reporting associated with beam-based reporting that uses a second cycle; sending, to the TRP, a group-based report in accordance with the first cycle, wherein the group-based report comprises measurement information associated with a representative beam, and wherein the representative beam is one of a plurality of beams in the group or a beam that represents an average associated with the plurality of beams in the group; sending, to the TRP, a beam-based report in accordance with the second cycle, wherein the beam-based report comprises measurement information for individual beams; and receiving updated beam grouping information from the TRP.
10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first cycle is a short cycle and the second cycle is a long cycle.
11. The method of claim 9, wherein the group-based report comprises less information about individual beams than the beam-based report.
12. The method of claim 9, further comprising sending the group-based report more often than the beam-based report.
13. The method of claim 9, wherein the plurality of beams in the group comprises a first beam and a second beam, the first beam being the representative beam, and wherein the group-based report comprises a reference signal received power (RSRP) for the representative beam and a differential RSRP for the second beam.
14. The method of claim 9, wherein when the representative beam is the one of the plurality of beams in the group, the representative beam is a beam that has a maximum measurement value compared to other beams in the group.
15. The method of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured to cause the WTRU to take measurements of individual beams.
