Abstract
A discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system includes the following steps: in case of a continuous carrier aggregation setting a common On Duration timer and/or a common Discontinuous Reception inactivity timer for a primary cell and each secondary cell; and in case of a discontinuous carrier aggregation setting an independent On Duration timers and/or an independent Discontinuous Reception inactivity timers for the primary cell and each secondary cells. The discontinuous reception method realizes discontinuous reception of the carrier aggregation thus saving power consumption of a mobile station.

Claim
1. A discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system, comprising:
determining, using circuitry, to employ a consecutive carrier aggregation or a non-consecutive carrier aggregation;
in case of the consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting a common on-duration timer and/or a common discontinuous reception inactivity timer; and
in case of the non-consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting separate on-duration timers and/or separate discontinuous reception inactivity timers.
2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
if an instruction instructing a new data transmission over a primary cell or other secondary cells is received in a physical downlink control channel for the primary cell, starting or resetting the discontinuous reception inactivity timer for the primary cell.
3. The method according to claim 2, wherein:
if an uplink transmission authorization or a downlink transmission assignment instruction including a carrier indicator field is received over a primary cell or a secondary cell, starting or resetting the discontinuous reception inactivity timer of the primary cell or the secondary cell, and starting or resetting the discontinuous reception inactivity timer of the cell corresponding to the carrier indicator field; and
if an uplink transmission authorization or a downlink transmission assignment instruction not including the carrier indicator field is received over a primary cell or a secondary cell, only starting or resetting the discontinuous reception inactivity timer for the primary cell or the secondary cell.
4. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
if a message indicative of successful contention resolution is to be received only over the primary cell, setting separate contention resolution timers for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells, otherwise setting a common contention resolution timer for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
if a message indicative of successful contention resolution is to be received only over a primary cell, stopping the contention resolution timer of the primary cell when the message indicative of the successful contention resolution is received;
if a message indicative of successful contention resolution is not only to be received over a primary cell, further starting contention resolution timers of the secondary cells when the contention resolution timer of the primary cell is started; stopping the contention resolution timers of the primary cell and the secondary cells when the message indicative of the successful contention resolution is received over the primary cell or over any of the secondary cells.
6. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
setting separate discontinuous reception retransmission timers for the primary cell and each of secondary cells respectively.
7. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
in case of the consecutive carrier aggregation, setting the same value for discontinuous reception parameters of the primary cell and each of the secondary cells; and
in case of the non-consecutive carrier aggregation, setting different values for the discontinuous reception parameters of the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
8. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
in case of at least one of: the data to be transmitted being of smaller amount, being closer to the base station, having better signal quality, and the moving speed of the mobile station being smaller with respect to the converge area of a cell, setting a smaller expiring time value of the discontinuous reception inactivity timer for a cell to be configured and/or a smaller expiring time value of the on-duration timer for the cell to be configured, and/or setting a bigger discontinuous reception cycle for the cell to be configured.
9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
setting an expiring time value of a discontinuous reception short cycle timer for the primary cell irrelative to the discontinuous reception performance of the primary cell.
10. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
if the secondary cell has poor signal quality, sending periodically a feedback report for the secondary cell during the active time, otherwise sending the feedback report for the secondary cell only during the on-duration time.
11. The method according to claim 5, wherein:
starting the contention resolution timer of the secondary cell comprises sending a message for starting the contention resolution timer from the primary cell to the secondary cell, and starting the contention resolution timer of the secondary cell when the secondary cell receives the message for starting the contention resolution timer transmitted from the primary cell;
when the message indicative of the successful contention resolution is received over the primary cell or over any of the secondary cells, stopping the contention resolution timers of the primary cell and the secondary cells comprises, when the message indicative of the successful contention resolution is received over the primary cell or over any of the secondary cells, stopping the contention resolution timer of the cell, and sending to other cells a message for stopping the contention resolution timer of respective cell, when the message is received by the other cells, stopping the contention resolution timer of the respective cell.
12. The method according to claim 1, further comprising not providing discontinuous reception for the secondary cell which is not provided with the physical downlink control channel.
13. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
in case of at least one of: the data to be transmitted being of smaller amount, being closer to the base station, having better signal quality, and the moving speed of the mobile station being smaller with respect to the converge area of a secondary cell to be configured, setting a smaller discontinuous reception short cycle timer for the secondary cell to be configured.
14. A discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system, carrier activating/deactivating operation separate from the carrier configuration process being used in the wireless communication system, the method comprising:
for a primary cell and each of secondary cells, setting a common on-duration timer and/or discontinuous reception inactivity timer;
after performing the deactivating operation to a cell, no longer monitoring the physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell; and
after performing reactivating operation on the cell on which the deactivating operation has been performed, judging, using circuitry, whether the physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored according to discontinuous reception running rule, and monitoring the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell when it is judged that the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored.
15. The method according to claim 14, further comprising:
if a message indicative of successful contention resolution is received only over the primary cell, setting separate contention resolution timers for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells, otherwise setting a common contention resolution timer for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
16. The method according to claim 14, further comprising:
setting separate discontinuous reception retransmission timers for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
17. The method according to claim 14, further comprising:
setting the same value for the discontinuous reception parameters for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
18. A mobile station, comprising:
circuitry configured to:
determine to employ a consecutive carrier aggregation or a non-consecutive carrier aggregation; and
in case of the consecutive carrier aggregation, set a common on-duration timer and/or a common discontinuous reception inactivity timer for a primary cell and each of secondary cells; and in case of the non-consecutive carrier aggregation, set separate on-duration timers and/or separate discontinuous reception inactivity timers for the primary cell and each of the secondary cells.
19. A mobile station, comprising:
circuitry configured to:
perform carrier activating/deactivating operation separate from the carrier configuration process;
set a common on-duration timer and/or discontinuous reception inactivity timer for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells;
after performing the deactivating operation to a cell, no longer monitor a physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell; and
after performing reactivating operation on the cell on which the deactivating operation has been performed, judge whether the physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored according to discontinuous reception running rule, and monitor the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell when it is judged that the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored.
20. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, which stores therein a computer program which, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to execute a discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
determining to employ a consecutive carrier aggregation or a non-consecutive carrier aggregation;
in case of the consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting a common on-duration timer and/or a common discontinuous reception inactivity timer; and
in case of the non-consecutive carrier aggregation, for a primary cell and each of the secondary cells, setting separate on-duration timers and/or separate discontinuous reception inactivity timers.
21. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, which stores therein a computer program which, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to execute a discontinuous reception method in a wireless communication system, carrier activating/deactivating operation separate from the carrier configuration process being used in the wireless communication system, the method comprising:
for a primary cell and each of secondary cells, setting a common on-duration timer and/or discontinuous reception inactivity timer;
after performing the deactivating operation to a cell, no longer monitoring the physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell; and
after performing reactivating operation on the cell on which the deactivating operation has been performed, judging whether the physical downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored according to discontinuous reception running rule, and monitoring the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell when it is judged that the downlink control channel corresponding to the cell is needed to be monitored.
