Abstract
A method in a wireless communication system for signaling number of antenna ports which a transmit node comprises is provided. According to the method a communication signal is transmitted carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of the transmit node, wherein the information on the number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of the communication signal. A transmit node, a receiver node and methods thereof are further provided.

Claim
1. Method in a wireless communication system for signalling a number of antenna ports which a transmit node comprises, said method being characterised in that a communication signal is transmitted carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of said transmit node, wherein the information on said number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of said communication signal.
2. Method according to claim 1 , wherein a predefined first part of said communication signal refers to signalling a first number of at least one antenna port corresponding to a first type of antenna ports said transmit node comprises, and a predefined second part of said communication signal refers to signalling a second number of antenna ports corresponding to a second type of antenna ports said transmit node comprises, wherein said first and second types of antenna ports are different from each other.
3. Method according to claim 2, wherein said communication signal is a set of information bits attached with masked Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) parity bits.
4. Method according to claim 3, wherein said predefined first part of said communication signal comprises a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) mask corresponding to said first number of at least one antenna port.
5. Method according to claim 4, wherein said first number of at least one antenna port is one, two or four.
6. Method according to claim 4, wherein said predefined second part of said communication signal comprises at least one explicit bit belonging to said set of information bits to indicate said second number of antenna ports.
7. Method according to claim 6, wherein said second number of antenna port is zero, two, four or eight.
8. Method according to any of claims 3-7, wherein said communication signal is transmitted on a Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH).
9. Method according to claim 2, wherein said first type of antenna ports are defined by a first set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs) and said second type of antenna ports are defined by a second set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs), said first and second set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs) being different from each other
10. Method according to claim 9, wherein said wireless communication system is a cellular communication system, and Common Reference Signals (CRSs) belonging to said first and/or second set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs) are cell-specific Common Reference Signals (CRSs)
11. Method according to claim 10, wherein the Common Reference Signals (CRSs) belonging to said first set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs) are used for demodulation and/or channel measurement, and the Common Reference Signals (CRSs) belonging to said second set of Common Reference Signals (CRSs) are sparsely distributed and used for channel measurement only
12. Method according to claim 10, wherein said wireless communication system is a', 'Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) communication system, and said communication signal is transmitted by said transmit node being a base station or a relay station
13. Method according to claim 12, wherein said first type of antenna ports are defined by LTE Common Reference Signals (CRSs) and said second type of antenna ports are defined by LTE-A Channel State Information-Reference Signals (CSI-RSs)14. Method according to claim 2, wherein said predefined first part of said communication signal is transmitted on a first channel and said predefined second part of said communication signal is transmitted on a second channel, said second channel being transmitted on at least one of said first type of antenna ports indicated by said first part of said communication signal

Method in a transmit node in a wireless communication system for signalling number of antenna ports which said transmit node comprises, said method being characterised in that said transmit node transmits a communication signal carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of said transmit node, wherein the information on said number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of said communication signal

Method according to claim 15, wherein said wireless communication system is a Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) communication system and said transmit node is a base station or a relay station17. Method in a receive node in a wireless communication system for receiving signals indicating number of antenna ports which a transmit node comprises, said method being characterised in that said receive node receives a communication signal carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of said transmit node, wherein the information on said number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of said communication signal
18. Method according to claim 17, wherein said wireless communication system is a Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) communication system and said receive node is a mobile station such as a User Equipment (UE)
19. Computer program, characterised in code means, which when run in a computer causes said computer to execute the method according to any of claims 1-18.

Computer program product comprising a computer readable medium and a computer program according to claim 19, wherein said computer program is included in the computer readable medium, and consist of one or more from the group: ROM (Read-Only Memory), PROM (Programmable ROM), EPROM (Erasable PROM), Flash memory, EEPROM (Electrically EPROM) and hard disk drive.

Transmit node in a wireless communication system for signalling number of antenna ports which said transmit node comprises, characterised in that said transmit node is arranged to provide and transmit a communication signal in said wireless communication system carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of said transmit node, wherein the information on said number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of said communication signal.
22. Transmit node according to claim 21, wherein said wireless communication system is a Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) communication system and said transmit node is a base station or a relay node.
23. Receive node in a wireless communication system for receiving signals indicating number of antenna ports which a transmit node comprises, characterised in that said receive node is arranged to receive and process a communication signal carrying information on number of at least one antenna port of said transmit node, wherein the information on said number of at least one antenna port is partitioned and provided distributed over at least two predefined parts of said communication signal.
24. Receive node according to claim 23, wherein said wireless communication system is a Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) communication system and said receive node is a User Equipment.']
