Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for improving the quality of the control signaling on the basis of signaling messages that control speech or data transmission by an air interface between at least two wireless transmission / reception units (WTRU) capable of operating with single reuse slot for multiple users / voice services through multiple user channels adaptable in a single slot (MUROS / VAMOS). The WTRUs communicate with each other in the physical layer, by signaling messages transmitted on control channels such as the slow associated control channel (SACCH) and the fast associated control channel (FACCH). The speech services are provided simultaneously by the same physical channel and the time advance (TA) and power counting (PC) parameters of a WTRU are repeatedly multiplexed from the SACCH or the FACCH to increase the number of bits of the channel available for channel coding.
