Abstract  Abstract

Multi-User-Reusing-One-Slot / Multi-User-Adusing Multiuser Channels On One Slot (MUROS / VAMOS) A method and apparatus are disclosed for improving the quality of control signals based on signal messages controlling voice or data transmission over an air interface between at least two wireless transmit / receive units (WTRUs). The WTRUs communicate with each other at the physical layer via signal messages sent over control channels such as a slow associated control channel (SACCH) and a fast associated control channel (FACCH). SACCH generation for MUROS / VAMOS multiplexed users is misaligned or shifted, providing the opportunity to exclusively use full time slots for a single user.
