Abstract  Abstract

Invention Patent: METHOD AND EQUIPMENT TO OPERATE A RECEIVER OF A SATELLITE POSITIONING SYSTEM. A method and equipment to operate a satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver in a client / server structure. In an example of a method, a first plurality of pseudo distances is determined at a first moment and a second plurality of pseudo distances is determined at a second moment that occurs after the first moment. The first and second pluralities of pseudo distances are stored. After the second moment, the first and second pluralities of pseudo distances are transmitted to a location server, usually in a transmission. The following location server determines a first position from the first plurality of pseudo distances and a second position from the second plurality of pseudo distances. In a specific example, the first and second pseudo distances are transmitted in response to a predetermined type of event and the location server stores a collection of differential GPS data that has been collected over time.
