SELEÇÃO/ATUALIZAÇÃO OF CELLS IN CELL_FACH ENHANCED STATE. Described are a method and apparatus for updating state of cells in celi_fach. After selecting a target cell system information is read from the target cell system information including the common shared channel in high speed lower link (HS-DSCH). A temporary identity of radio network (ANTI) received in a source cell is cleared and a variable RECEPÇÃO_DE_HS_DSCH is set to true. A controlling entity of the access means HS-DSCH (mac-hs) is set based on the information of the common HS-system DSCH. The transmission of the packet access link at high speed (HSDPA) is then received in the target cell. A UPDATING CELL message is sent to notify of a cell change. The HSDPA transmission may be received using a H-RNTI common broadcast in the system information a H-RNTI reserved as requested in an UPDATE message cell or a temporary identity which is a subset of a U-RNTI. The MAC-hs entity may be restarted.

High speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) transmission is then received in the target cell. A CELL UPDATE message is sent to notify of a cell change. The HSDPA transmission may be received using a common H-RNTI broadcast in the system information a reserved H-RNTI as requested in a CELL UPDATE message or a temporary identity which is a subset of a U-RNTI. The MAC-hs entity may be reset.
