Abstract  Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a scalable system for controlling color management including varying levels of metadata. An embodiment discloses a method of processing image data for a target display by a set of metadata, the set of metadata being associated with image content, the method comprising: receiving and decoding image data; determining whether a set of metadata associated with the image data is received; if a set of metadata associated with the image data is received, calculating parameters of a color management algorithm from the set of metadata associated with the image data, wherein the set of metadata includes at least: a. white dots, expressed as x, y chromaticity coordinates, b three primary colors, each expressed as x, y chromaticity coordinates, c maximum luminance level, and d minimum luminance level.
