Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting and using time zone information in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem IMS network. The CSCF node (115, 125) retrieves (502) and stores (503) time zone information associated with the UE when the call session control function CSCF node (115, 125) receives (501) a request message related to the UE. Time zone informationis sent (504) by a CSCF node (115, 125) to at least another IMS network node, which is then able to support time zone based services and/or billing associated with the UE. The CSCF node (115, 125) mayoptionally create (505) an attribute value pair AVP that includes stored time zone information, and send (506) a charging message that includes AVP to the charging node to allow time zone informationto be used in charging.
