Abstract
The present invention concern methods and apparatuses for transporting and using time zone information in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, network. When a cali session control function, CSCF, node (115, 125) receives (501 ) a request message related to a user equipment, UE, the CSCF node (115, 125) retrieves (502) and (503) stores time zone information associated with the UE. The time zone information is sent (504) by the CSCF node (115, 125) to at least one other IMS network node, which is then able to support time zone based services and/or charging associated with the UE. The CSCF node (115, 125) may optionally create (505) an Attribute Value Pair, AVP, including the stored time zone information and send (506) a charging message including the AVP to a charging node, to enable usage of the time zone information in charging.

Claim
1. A method in a call session control function, CSCF, node (1 15, 125) for handling time zone information (201 , 202) in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, network (100), the method comprising: receiving (501) a request message related to a user equipment, UE (1 10); retrieving (502) time zone information (201 , 202) in response to reception of said request message, wherein said time zone information (201 , 202) specifies a time zone (170, 175) associated with the UE (1 10); storing (503) the time zone information (201 , 202) in a memory unit (350) of the CSCF node (1 15, 125); and, sending (504) at least one message, including the time zone information (20 , 202), to at least one other IMS network node (1 15, 120, 125, 130, 135), to enable said at least one other IMS network ( 15, 120, 125, 130, 135) node to support time zone based services and/or charging associated with the UE ( 10).
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the time zone information comprises User Current Time Zone information (201) that specifies the time zone (170) of a currently visited network (160) of the UE (1 10).
3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the time zone information comprises User Home Time Zone information (202) that specifies a home time zone (175) of a user subscription associated with the UE (1 10).

The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the CSCF node is a proxy call session control function, P-CSCF, node (1 15), the UE (1 10) is connected to a mobile access network (160), and the time zone information (201 ) is retrieved (502) from a policy control and charging rules function, PCRF, node (140), which stores time zone information (201) received from the mobile access network (160) to which the UE ( 10) is connected.
5. The method according to claim 4, further comprising: receiving (708) updated time zone information (201 ) from the PCRF node (140), when the time zone information (201 ), which is stored in the PCRF node (140) and associated with the UE (1 10), has changed.

The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the CSCF node is a proxy call session control function, P-CSCF, node (1 15, 815), the UE (1 10) is connected to a fixed access network (161 , 861 ), and the time zone information (201 ) of the fixed access network (161 , 861 ) is preconfigured into the P-CSCF node (1 15, 815), such that the step of retrieving includes retrieving the time zone information (201 ) from configuration information of the P-CSCF node ( 15, 815). 36

The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the CSCF node is a serving call session control function, S-CSCF, node (125), the request message is a registration request message, related to registration of the UE (110) in the IMS network (100), and received from a proxy call session control function, P-CSCF, node (1 15), and the time zone information (201 ) is retrieved (502) from the received (501 ) request message.

The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the CSCF node is a serving call session control function, S-CSCF, node (125), the request message is a terminating request message (912) related to a session to be terminated in the UE (1 10), or an originating request message (902) related to a session to be originated from the UE (1 10), and the step of retrieving the time zone information (201 , 201 ) includes retrieving the time zone information (201 , 202) from stored information in the memory unit (350) of the S- CSCF node (125) or from the originating request message 902).

The method according to claim 1 , 2 or 3, wherein the CSCF node is a serving call session control function, S-CSCF, node (125), and the time zone information (201 , 202) is retrieved (502) from a home subscriber server, HSS, node (130). 3710. The method according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the time zone information (201 , 202) is included in a p-charging-vector header (102) field of the received (501) request message and/or sent (504) message.11 The method according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising: creating (505) an Attribute Value Pair, AVP, (101) including the stored time zone information (201 , 202), sending (506) a charging message including said AVP (101 ) to a charging node (145), to enabfe usage of the time zone information (201 , 202) in charging

A method in a home subscriber server, HSS, node ( 30) for handling time zone information (201 , 202) in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, network (100), the method comprising: receiving (601), from a serving call session controi function, S-CSCF, node (125), a request message related to a registration of a user equipment, UE, (1 10) in said IMS network (100); requesting (602), from a mobile packet core network (150) associated with a mobile access network (160) to which the UE (1 10) is connected, time zone information (201) that specifies a time zone (170) associated with the UE (1 0), receiving (603) the requested information (201); storing (604) the time zone information (201 ) in a memory unit (450) of the HSS node (130); and, sending (605) a response message, to the S-CSCF node (125), including the time zone information (201 ), to enable the S-CSCF node (125), to support time zone based services and/or charging associated with the UE (1 10)
13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the time zone information comprises User Current Time Zone information (201 ) that specifies the time zone (170) of a currently visited network (160) of the UE (1 10)

The method according to claim 12 or 13, further comprising: receiving (718) updated time zone information (201 ) from the mobile packet core network (150) associated with the mobiie access network (160) to which the UE (1 10) is connected, when the time zone information (201 ) has changed, and sending (719) the updated time zone information (201) to the S-CSCF node ( 25)

The method according to any of claims 12-14, wherein the HSS node (130) is preconfigured with User Home Time Zone information (202) that specifies the time zone (175) of a predefined home network (165) associated with the UE (1 10), and the User Home Time Zone information (202) is included in the response message sent (605) to the S-CSCF node (125)

A call session control function, CSCF, node ( 5, 125) for handling time zone information (201 , 202) in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, network (100), the CSCF node (1 15, 125) comprising: a receiver (310), a transmitter (340), a memory unit (350) and processing logic (330), the processing logic (330) being connected to the receiver (310), to the transmitter (340) and to the memory unit (350), wherein the receiver (310) is configured to receive (501 ) a request message related to a user equipment, UE, (1 10); the processing logic (330) comprises retrieving logic (320) configured to retrieve (502) time zone information (201 , 202) in response to reception of said request message, wherein said time zone information (201 , 202) specifies a time zone (170, 175) associated with the UE (1 10); the processing logic (330) is further configured to store (503) the time zone information (201 , 202) in the memory unit (350) of the CSCF node (1 15, 125); and the transmitter (340) is configured to send (504) at least one message, including the time zone information (201 , 202), to at least one other IMS network node (1 15, 120, 125, 130, 135), to enable said at least one other IMS network node (1 15, 120, 125, 130, 135) to support time zone based services and/or charging associated with the UE (1 10)

A CSCF node (1 15, 125) according to claim 16, wherein the processing logic (330) is further configured to create (505) an Attribute Value Pair, AVP, (101 ) including the stored time zone information (201 , 202); and the transmitter (340) is further configured to send (506) a charging message including said AVP (101 ) to a charging node (145), to enable usage of the time zone information (201 , 202) in charging

A home subscriber server, HSS, node (130) for handling time zone information (201 , 202) in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, network (100), the HSS node (130) comprising: a receiver (410), a transmitter (440), a memory unit (450) and processing logic (430), the processing logic (430) being connected to the receiver (410), to the transmitter (440) and to the memory unit (450), wherein the receiver (410) is configured to receive (601 ), from a serving call session control function, S-CSCF, node (125), a request message related to a registration of a user equipment, UE, (1 10) in said IMS network (100); the processing logic (430) comprises requesting logic (420) configured to request (602), from a mobile packet core network (150) associated with a mobile access network (160) to which the UE (1 10) is connected, time zone information (201 ) that specifies a time zone (170) associated with the UE (1 10); the receiver (410) is further configured to receive (603) the requested time zone information (201 ); the processing logic (430) is further configured to store (604) the time zone information (201 ) in the memory unit (450) of the HSS node (130); and the transmitter (440) is configured to send (605) a response message, to the S-CSCF node (125), including the time zone information (201 , 202), to enable the S-CSCF node (125), to support time zone based services and/or charging associated with the UE (1 10).']
