Abstract
network-assisted GPS mobile terminal system comprises a plurality of GPS-compatible mobile terminal (10) and a wireless telecommunication network (32) wherein each terminal has a transceiver and the wireless telecommunications network (32) has at least one base station transceiver (30) for transmitting GPS assistance data to each GPS-compatible mobile station transmission process uses the point-to-point signalling protocol. In described embodiments point at least includes the IMSI (international mobile subscriber identity code) is added to point signalling protocol normal location update or periodic location update signalling protocol in one.
