Abstract  Abstract

A system and a method to channel establishment period of CDMA communication system during initial power ramp-up using a short code transmitted from the subscriber unit to the base station to control the transmission power. The short code is a sequence for detection of base station it has period much shorter period of traditional transmission code. power increase begins at a power level which is the lower base station to detect a desired power level. the user unit repeatedly transmitting the short code quickly increases transmission power until the signal detected by the base station. The use of short codes limits excessive power and interference to other subscriber stations and also permits the base station to quickly used by the spreading code synchronization of the user unit.
