The present invention discloses a method of providing location service for WLAN user. A location subsystem is preset in a wireless area network (WLAN), and when a WLAN user accesses to a 3th generation network (3G), the method comprises at least: the WLAN location subsystem judges whether receiving a location request of location service (LCS) client in 3G, if receiving, then locates a target user equipment (UE) based on the received request, and returns the result of location to a mobile location center gateway (GMLC), and the GMLC returns the result of location to LCS client; otherwise, continues judging whether receiving location request. The present invention enables the LCS client using the LCS service in the WLAN interworking with the 3G network via 3G network.
