Procedure for wireless transmission of voice communications and data communications from a base station (102) to a plurality of user terminals (106 to 122) by a single wireless operator, in a spread spectrum format and division multiplexing in time, characterized by the following steps: identifying a first set of user terminals of the plurality of user terminals that require voice communication service (904); identify a second set of user terminals of the plurality of user terminals requesting the data communication service (910); for each of the user terminals of the first set, assign a part of a time-division multiplexed superframe (908); for each of the user terminals of the first set, determine a respective admitted data transmission rate taking into account the current conditions of the respective channel (906); determine a subset of the second set of user terminals that will receive the service through the time-division multiplexed superframe (912); for each of the user terminals of the subset of the second set, assign a part of the time-division multiplexed superframe (916); for each of the user terminals of the subset of the second set, determine a respective data transmission rate supported taking into account the current conditions of the respective channel (914); form the time-division multiplexed superframe (918) to comprise: voice communications for each of the user terminals of the first set, in which the duration of time within the superframe occupied by each voice communication corresponds directly at a respective supported data transmission rate; and data communications for each of the user terminals of the subset of the second set, in which the duration of time within the superframe occupied by each data communication corresponds directly to a respective admitted data transmission rate; and transmitting the time division multiplexed superframe from the base station in a spread spectrum format (920).
