A method for receiving a multicast service notification by a subscriber station in a communications system, comprising: determining a multicast radio messaging cycle; determine the first slot of a first channel by entering the multicast radio messaging cycle and a multicast group identifier in a mapping function; determine the first slot based on a value provided by the mapping function; decode a broadcasting identifier transmitted in the first slot of the first channel; and if the broadcasting indicator indicates that a multicast service notification is transmitted, decode said multicast service notification in a corresponding second slot of a second channel, where the second slot of the second channel is offset with respect to the first slot of the first channel
