Abstract
A video data encoding method comprising: determining (302) a smaller coding unit size for a video sequence, in which the video sequence comprises a plurality of images and in which the unit size Smaller coding is selected from a plurality of possible coding unit sizes; determination (306) of an image size associated with the video sequence; characterized in that the image size associated with the video sequence is determined as a multiple of the smallest encoding unit size; and further comprising: signaling (308) of the smallest coding unit size in the sequence level syntactic information and image size signaling as a multiple of the smallest coding unit size in the syntax level information sequence.
