Abstract
A method and apparatus for concealing frame erasure caused by a frame of an encoded sound signal erased during transmission from an encoder to a decoder and recovering the decoder after frame erasure is encoded within the encoder Determining a concealment / recovery parameter that includes at least phase information related to a frame of the sound signal. The concealment / recovery parameter determined in the encoder is transmitted to the decoder, where frame erasure concealment is performed in response to the received concealment / recovery parameter. Frame erasure concealment includes resynchronizing the erasure-concealed frame with a corresponding frame of the encoder encoded sound signal in response to the received phase information. When the concealment / recovery parameter is not transmitted to the decoder, the phase information of each frame of the encoded sound signal erased during transmission from the encoder to the decoder is estimated at the decoder. Also, the frame erasure concealment is performed in the decoder in response to the estimated phase information, where the frame erasure concealment is performed in response to the estimated phase information in each encoder-concealed frame at the encoder. Resynchronizing to the corresponding frame of the encoded sound signal.
