Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for providing transmission diversity to an open loop MIMO communication scheme such as a point-to-multipoint multi-address communication service in a cellular system and to provide a method relating thereto.
SOLUTION: A plurality of data streams of multi-address communication data are multi-address communicated through a transmission diversity antenna of a transmission station. A data symbol of the separate data stream is phase-shifted to be phase-offset from each other. When the data symbol is selectively phase-shifted by a phase shifter the data stream is provided to a transmission node of each cell by the phase shifter.
