Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for improving the throughput during transmission of data packets within a plurality of time slots in a high data rate communication system.

SOLUTION: A method for receiving a first packet from a source network node includes: generating a data rate control signal based on signal quality of a received signal transmitted by the source network node; sending the data rate control signal to the source network node; receiving a first signal having a data rate based on the data rate control signal from the source network node; measuring signal quality of the first signal to form a first signal quality metric; and sending a first feedback signal based on the first signal quality metric.
