Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for interoperating between a mobile network operator and an application provider is disclosed. The NAF can be co-located with the OpenID provider so that the application server can communicate with the network application function (NAF) and access the home subscriber server (HSS) via the bootstrapping server function (BSF). The interface between the BSF and the HSS, and the interface between the BSF and the NAF can be enhanced to carry information that is available through the Sh interface between the application server and the HSS. When the WTRU is roaming in the visited network, the application server can communicate with the visited network for billing and policing to respond to service requests from the WTRU. The application server is co-located with the NAF, can authenticate the WTRU using a generic bootstrapping architecture, communicate with the BSF in the home network via the eZn proxy function, and access the HSS.
