Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for millimeter wave (mmW) link communication, including procedure configurations for the initial selection of a candidate mmW base station (mB) and mmW acquisition resource, both of which are supported by a cellular network.SOLUTION: The method includes: transmitting a mmW acquisition beacon; processing the mmW acquisition beacon to obtain mmW beam arrangement and timing synchronization; and performing an uplink (UL) report through cellular or a mmW link. In an example, a mmW wireless transmission/reception unit (WTRU) transmits millimeter wave (mmW) WTRU (mmW WTRU) information through the cellular system to a base station, and receives a candidate list of a candidate mmW base station (mB) which includes mmW acquisition start timing information, to calculate a correlation value of reception mmW acquisition start timing information to the mB in the candidate list. The mmW WTRU executes sliding window correlation, using the mB in the candidate list and a signature sequence associated with the beam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
