Abstract  Abstract

To provide a method and a mobile terminal that are capable of flexibly, effectively and easily processing both the transmission of low volumes of data and the transmission of high volumes of data within a mobile network.SOLUTION: A method includes: transmitting, from a mobile terminal (UE) to a first network entity of a mobile communication network, a notification containing a parameter indicating whether the mobile terminal wishes to use signalling messages or a data transport channel for transmission of downlink data; and following reception of downlink data intended for the mobile terminal by a second network entity of the mobile communication network which is able to transmit downlink data to the mobile terminal by way of a data transport channel, and depending at least on the parameter, receiving from the first network entity at least one signalling message in which the downlink data is inserted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
