Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a corresponding system for obtaining transmission power of a mobile device.

SOLUTION: A step of receiving a total cell power control parameter which is associated with the target reception power of a base station in charge is included in the mobile device. Thereafter the transmission power is calculated according to the total cell power control parameter and an implicit mobile-specific power control parameter (608). The mobile device then performs transmission using the transmission power (610). The total cell power control parameter may be a cell target signal to interference+noise ratio or a fraction power control index. The implicit mobile-specific power control parameter may be a modulation and coding level that is used in the mobile device before or a downlink SINR level measured by the mobile device.
