Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for allocating a physical hybrid ARQ indicator channel (PHICH) capable of maintaining a transmission structure irrespective of spreading factors.

SOLUTION: The method includes allocating a code division multiplexing (CDM) group in consideration of a ratio of the numbers of necessary CDM groups according to spreading factors and allocating a PHICH to the allocated CDM group. For example if 12 ACK/NACK signals are transmitted the number of required CDM groups when the spreading factor is 4 is 2 whereas the number of CDM groups when the spreading factor is 2 is not 3 but 4. Thereby in relation between used frequencies and antennas the same transmission structure can be maintained irrespective of the spreading factor being 4 or 2.
